Since the update released on 31 July 2026, STS checks the machine status before allowing certain configuration changes.
This change helps prevent configuration errors and protects the stock stored in the machine.
For example, changes to a compartment may now be blocked when it contains:
a Click & Collect delivery awaiting collection;
a returnable item that still needs to be returned to the machine.
To make changes to a machine that is already in service, the machine must therefore be connected and synchronised with STS. If it is not, you must wait until the machine reconnects and synchronises before changing its configuration.
Case 1: Recently Transferred Machine
When a machine has just been transferred:
from SAM to a distributor;
or from a distributor to an end customer;
its status automatically changes to “Under configuration”.
At this stage, the container configuration can be prepared even if the machine is not yet connected, as its configuration is considered empty at the time of transfer.
However, the configuration cannot be sent to STM until the machine is connected.
Once the configuration has been completed, click the “Put into service” button.
The configuration will be sent to STM as soon as the machine is connected and able to retrieve its new configuration.
Case 2: Machine Already in Service
When a machine is already in use and has an existing configuration, STS must know its current status before allowing any changes.
If the machine is not connected or synchronised, configuration changes will be temporarily blocked, as shown in the example below.
You must wait until the machine is:
connected;
synchronised with STS.
Once synchronisation is complete, STS will be able to check the stock, pending deliveries and pending returns. Authorised changes can then be made safely.

If a machine was transferred before 31 July 2026 and no configuration changes have been made since, please contact SAM so that its status can be updated in the database and changed to “Under configuration”.
