Once you have calculated your emissions, reviewed your hotspots, and generated a report, it is then time to plan your emissions reductions. The 'Reduce emissions' tab is divided into the three key steps of your decarbonisation journey allowing you to plan and monitor its implementation within the Plan A Sustainability Platform.
Targets
Firstly, set emissions reduction targets. These are reductions in your organisation's emissions (compared to a baseline year) that you wish to achieve by a future date. The ambition of your targets will inform the ambitiousness and amount of decarbonisation actions required.
Actions
Actions are the policies, incentives, and other measures that you can implement in your organisation to reduce emissions and meet your reduction targets.
We provide a list of 'Plan A Actions' with their emission reduction potential as well as guidance on how to plan, test and implement them. For alternative actions not listed by Plan A, there is the option to add 'Custom Actions'.
Use the Actions page to select which actions are best suited to your decarbonisation goals, assign them to colleagues, and oversee progress towards implementing them.
Analytics
The Analytics page allows you to monitor your progress along your decarbonisation journey. Taking into account your uploaded emissions, emission reduction targets, and planned actions, it shows your annual carbon budget and progress towards staying within it, the potential cost of compensating instances where you overshoot your targets, and your forecasted emissions for future years. This information allows you to incentivise further action towards meeting your targets where needed.
As such, these steps should not be considered as separate, but rather parts of a holistic and iterative process, in which progress towards targets and implementing actions can be reviewed and, where necessary, further action can be taken.
