Solar panels

Solar panels on a rental property, what you need to know

Updated this week

Not every rental home is automatically suitable for solar panels. Suitability depends on the type of property, the condition of the roof and approval from LIV Residential or the homeowners’ association (VvE). Always check with LIV Residential first to see if your home qualifies.

Installing solar panels

  • You must always obtain written permission from LIV Residential before arranging installation.

  • Make clear agreements on ownership, maintenance responsibilities, and what happens when you move out.

If LIV Residential installs solar panels

  • LIV Residential may decide to install solar panels.

  • A small increase in rent or service charges may be applied.

  • Savings on your energy bill can often offset these additional costs.
