How does Navigation work in Route planning?

Updated yesterday

There are two aspects of navigation functionality involved in the operations of the route planning solution.

  1. When a route is planned, navigation planning and display on a map are based on the third-party navigation and map providers' sources and algorithms integrated into the route planning solution. On-route limitations and restrictions for the particular types of vehicles, height, weight and other parameters are considered for route planning in accordance with the settings configured for a vehicle the route is associated with (until no specific vehicle is selected, default vehicle parameters (car) are used).

  2. When a planned route is opened on the mobile app and the user selects to proceed with navigation to an address on a route, the app initiates an automatic launch of a mobile application that has previously been selected as a third-party navigation app. Accordingly, navigation to an address depends on the settings and constraints of a selected navigation app on a device, including the types of vehicles supported by the third-party navigation app.

🔔 If you operate with a heavy vehicle fleet, it's strongly recommended to use a navigation app designed specifically for trucks. Our development team has done extensive testing to find the best solutions and currently, we consider Sygic Truck Navigation to be the most precise and accurate app for trucks and other specific vehicles. However, you can still use similar third-party apps for navigation, too.

Sygic Solution

Sometimes it might be necessary to perform specific route path adjustments, i.e., to avoid a particular city, district, or road on route even despite the fact that the most optimal path leads through this undesired object. Route planning allows performing such path adjustments during the route planning process. To ensure that the same path adjustments are applied for navigation to the route’s address, it's necessary to use the Sygic Enterprise license together with Sygic Guided routes add-on. Then the desired route path adjustments will be applied in the Sygic navigation app.

We offer our clients a good licensing policy for Sygic solutions, including the Enterprise license for truck navigation and Guided routes add-on. For more information about the Sygic Enterprise license please contact our client project managers. Please also consider that the standard retail Sygic navigation license that's available for purchase online doesn't support the Guided routes add-on. We recommend considering the licensing policy of Sygic Navigation solutions together with our team to make sure the most cost-effective licensing solution is applied.
