Before your release can go live and be available for fans to purchase, you must complete two essential steps:
Create a Page
Attach your release to a Release Group
Both are required in order to sell your release on elasticStage.
How Pages & Release Groups Work
It helps to understand the structure:
Page = your public profile / storefront
Release Group = a container inside your Page that houses all versions of the same Release
Release = a specific format/version (e.g. 12" vinyl, CD)
In practice, it looks like this:
Page
↳ Release Group
↳ 12" Vinyl
↳ CD
Step 1: Create a Page
A Page serves as a profile for artists, management companies, labels, projects, soundtracks and more. It acts as a storefront for all releases linked to that artist or project, while also showcasing a short bio and links to social media profiles such as YouTube, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).
You can create your Page at any time:
Before you start creating a release
During the release setup process
Or right before you publish
However, you must have a Page in order to sell your release, because Release Groups sit inside Pages.
Follow the step-by-step tutorial to build your Page:
Note: An ongoing bug with X's API prevents some users' content from being displayed. The X team is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Unfortunately, this is out of our hands.
Step 2: Attach a Release Group
A Release Group is a container that sits within your Page and houses all versions of the same Release.
For example, you might attach multiple formats of the same Release to one Release Group, such as:
A 12" Vinyl version
A CD version
This keeps formats organised for fans and ensures they appear together in your storefront.
You must attach a Release Group in order to sell your release.
Follow the tutorial to complete your release setup (including attaching a Release Group):
When Should I Create These?
The order is flexible — you can do this in whichever sequence fits your workflow:
Option A: Create your Page first → build your release → attach a Release Group
Option B: Build your release first → create/attach a Page → attach a Release Group
The only requirement is that your release must be connected to both a Page and a Release Group before it can be sold.
Ready to Go Live?
Once your release is set up and connected correctly:
Your Page becomes your public storefront
Your Release Group keeps all formats of the same Release organised in one place
At that point, your release can be made available to the public and fans can begin ordering.
