AI Agents cannot be deleted. There is no delete action on the Bots list, and none inside an agent, so an agent you created by mistake and an agent you have stopped using, will for the time being both stay on your account.
What you can do is take one out of service, which stops it from answering guests without removing it.
Why this catches people off guard
Creating a new AI Agent offers Duplicate as the quick way to set up a second agent, and Running multiple AI Agents for different scenarios recommends it. Both are good advice. Neither mentions that a duplicate made in the wrong place is permanent.
The same applies to an agent created to try something out. There is no tidying up afterwards.
So duplicate deliberately, and give each copy a name you will recognise later. Names on the Bots list are not unique, and an account with four agents called the same thing is hard to work with. See The Bots list: types, statuses and row actions.
Taking an agent out of service
An agent that is not active, does not answer guests. Taking an agent out of service is how you retire it.
Go to Messaging, then Inbox Settings, then Bots.
Find the agent, and check the Status column so you know which state it is in.
Click the ⋮ menu at the end of its row.
Click Deactivate.
The middle item in that menu changes with the agent's state. An agent that is live offers Deactivate; one that is not, offers Activate. So the same menu both retires an agent and brings it back (there is no separate screen for either).
Bringing it back is the same three clicks in reverse, which is worth knowing before you deactivate something you are unsure about. Nothing is lost: the agent keeps its name, tone, knowledge and assignment rule while it sits inactive.
Deactivate the agent rather than deleting its assignment rule. The two are not interchangeable. Deactivating takes the agent fully out of service. The rule controls which conversations reach it, while it is in service, so changing the rule is a different decision, and one that affects the other agents on your account as well. Make it deliberately, not as a way of switching something off. See Setting assignment rules and channel filters.
Before you retire an agent
Check what the agent is currently picking up, so you know what stops happening when it does.
Open it and look at Assignment rule on the General tab. The Connected rule: summary tells you which conversations reach it.
Then open the assignment rules overview, from Assignment rules on the Bots list, and look at where that rule sits.
Rules are matched in priority order, so the conversations this agent handles are the ones no higher rule claimed. When it goes quiet, those conversations fall to whichever rule is next, or to your team if none of them match. If another agent is meant to take the traffic over, make sure its rule is active and placed to catch it before you deactivate the first one.
If you need an agent removed
Contact Bookboost Support. Removing an agent is not something you can do yourself, so it has to go through the support team.
Include the agent's name, its operator name, and its status as shown on the Bots list. Names are not unique, so without all three it is not always clear which agent you mean.
