Creating a new AI Agent

The end-to-end flow for creating a new AI Agent, from Messaging settings to the Knowledge tab.

You create AI Agents inside the platform under Messaging > Inbox Settings > Bots. Each AI Agent has its own name, tone, channel rules, and knowledge base. You can run multiple AI Agents for different scenarios.

Before you start

  • The AI Agent must be enabled on your account. See Turning on the AI Agent for your account.

  • Have a clear use case in mind. A focused AI Agent ('WhatsApp Channel') is easier to manage than a generic one ('Hotel Agent').

The eight-step flow

  1. Click Messaging.

  2. Click Inbox Settings.

  3. Click Bots.

  4. Click New BB Bot.

  5. Choose a template (see Choosing a starting template), or click Create from scratch.

  6. Enter the name your guests will see when chatting with the agent, then set the tone (see Naming your AI Agent and setting tone).

  7. Set the Assignment rule (see Setting assignment rules and channel filters).

  8. Open the Knowledge tab to add Facts and FAQs (see Building out your AI Agent's knowledge).

Most of the configuration is reusable. The two decisions you cannot copy are the name (what the guest sees) and the channel filter (where the AI Agent operates).

After your first AI Agent

Most accounts end up with two or three AI Agents, each focused on a specific use case. See Running multiple AI Agents for different scenarios for when to split.
