WhatsApp Template Rejection Notifications

How to get notified by email or push when Meta rejects a WhatsApp template.

Introduction

Operators can opt in to be notified whenever a WhatsApp template is rejected by Meta, so you don't have to rely on whoever created the campaign to spot it.

Like all notification preferences, this is set up individually for each operator.

Main Concept: How It Works

  • Off by default, opt-in per operator. Every operator starts with email and push notifications turned off for Whatsapp Template Rejected. Turn it on yourself if you want to receive it.

  • Everyone who opts in is notified, not just the campaign creator. When a template is rejected, every operator who has email or push enabled for this event gets notified, so a rejection doesn't sit unnoticed just because the campaign creator is away.

  • Your channel preferences are always respected. You'll only be notified through the channels you've turned on. If your notifications are off altogether, or both channels are off for this event, you won't receive anything.

  • One notification per rejection. If a template is rejected for more than one reason at once, you'll get a notification for each reason — but you won't be notified again for a template that's already marked as rejected.

  • Rejected status is visible in your campaign view. The template will show a status of Rejected in Bookboost, matching what you'd see in WhatsApp Manager.

Use Cases

  • You're monitoring campaign delivery and want to know right away if Meta blocks a template, so you can edit and resubmit it.

  • Your property has multiple operators, and you want the whole team — not just whoever created the campaign — to know when a rejection happens.

  • You only want email (or only push) alerts for rejections, and can set that up independently for this event.

Configuration and Setup

  1. Go to Operator Settings.

    Click on Operators

  2. Find Whatsapp Template Rejected in your notification Events list.

  3. Turn on Email and/or Push for that event.

Known Issues or Limitations

  • New operators start with this notification off — turn on Email and/or Push for Whatsapp Template Rejected in Operator Settings if you want it.

  • Templates rejected by timeout (no review activity from Meta for a month) won't trigger a notification — only templates Meta actively rejects will.

  • The notification links you to the affected campaign but doesn't include Meta's specific rejection reason — check the campaign or WhatsApp Manager for that detail.

Conclusion

Turning on Whatsapp Template Rejected notifications means blocked templates get caught and fixed quickly, no matter who created the campaign. Take a minute to enable it in your Operator Settings so a rejection never goes unnoticed.
