There are two ways to build an unsubscribe into an email, and the choice decides what a guest loses when they click it. A global unsubscribe switches off all marketing from the property. A granular unsubscribe switches off one type and leaves the rest running.
The trade-off is simple: global is quicker to set up, granular keeps more guests reachable, because someone who only wanted the promotions to stop does not have to leave altogether.
Adding an unsubscribe link
Open the campaign and go to the email template editor.
In the footer, add an unsubscribe link block.
Point it at either a single consent, for a global unsubscribe, or at a specific consent category, for a granular one.
Save and publish.
Global unsubscribe
One link, one action: the guest's marketing consent is revoked across every campaign type.
This is the right default if you do not run distinct communication categories. It is also the simplest thing to keep compliant, because there is nothing to misconfigure.
Granular unsubscribe
Several links, each tied to a different consent category in the guest profile. Unsubscribing from one leaves the others untouched, so a guest can stop the promotions and still get their pre-arrival details.
This depends on your consent categories being set up first. The links point at consents that already exist, so configure them in Settings before you build the footer. See Consent configurations.
What this does not do
No categories means no granular option. If your consent categories are not configured, global unsubscribe is all that is available.
A global unsubscribe is hard to undo. Once a guest has opted out of everything, they receive no marketing until consent is obtained again, which means a manual update or a fresh consent collection flow. They will not opt back in on their own, because you can no longer contact them to ask.
Unsubscribing is silent. Bookboost does not send the guest a confirmation.
What to do next
For the other two ways a guest can opt out, self-service and manual revocation by staff, see Set up opt-out and unsubscribe options. For a one-click token that opts a guest out without a preference page, see Add a two-click unsubscribe link.
