🛑 How to Stop a Journey from Sending

Introduction

When a Journey campaign is active in Bookboost, it will automatically trigger and send messages to guests based on predefined conditions. There are situations where you may need to stop a Journey — either globally for all guests, or for one specific guest. This article explains both options clearly.

Main Concept

A Journey is a campaign type in Bookboost's CRM that sends automated messages triggered by a guest's status in their stay journey. Stopping a Journey can mean either deactivating it entirely (so no new guests enter it) or removing a specific guest's consent so they no longer receive messages from it.

Use Cases

  • You launched a Journey campaign by mistake and need to stop it immediately

  • You are migrating data or settings and need to pause all outbound messaging temporarily ✋

  • A specific guest has opted out and should receive no further messages

  • A guest replies "STOP" to an SMS and you need to ensure no further messages are sent

Configuration and Setup

Option 1 — Stop the Journey for everyone (recommended if it should not send at all)

  1. Go to Campaigns → Journeys

  2. Click on the three dots of the relevant Journey

  1. Deactivate it by pressing the “Stop Sending” button, which will switch it off — this ensures the Journey will not trigger for any new guests going forward

💡 This is the standard approach used during migrations: disable campaigns, complete the migration, then re-enable.

Option 2 — Stop it for a specific guest

This is handled via the guest’s profile:

  1. Go to Profiles - Guests. Use the eye symbol and open the relevant guest’s profile.

  2. Go to the Campaigns tab.

  1. Look for the Journey you like to stop. Chose it by clicking on the three dots on the right side.

  2. Click “Stop Journey“.

Known Issues or Limitations

Deactivating a Journey stops new triggers but does not cancel messages already queued for guests currently inside the Journey.

Conclusion

To stop a Journey in Bookboost, use global deactivation when the campaign should not send to anyone, and the “Stop Journey” button on a guest’s profile when handling individual guest opt-outs. Always verify that the Journey status shows as inactive after deactivating.
