Similar Medication Warning

Details:

The NHS database DM+D updated the information of Senna 7.5mg tablets to Senna 7.5mg tablets 12 plus. This change wasn't handled appropriately by our system and therefore the data is not pulling across as a new medication and it is not prompting as a linked as a product and the clinical checks have failed to display the similar medication prompt within the recommendation section.

In relation to the monthly order, if you set the new Senna to go live on the cycle start date and post-date the existing Senna to stop on the same day and then there should be no cross over minimising risk of any overdose.

While we continue to investigate this incident further, we recommend that users manually review resident’s medication records via the resident profile prior to completing the check.

To view the resident’s medication records from the Clinical check screen, please follow the process below:

  • Set the new Senna go live on the cycle start date

  • Click the three dots located next to the Residents name located in the top left-hand corner of the clinical check screen to open the Residents Profile.

  • From the Residents profile, click on the Repeat med tab to view a list of the Resident active medication

  • The repeat medication tab will display any active medication awaiting clinical check and all active Medication. Complete a single change to stop the previous Senna selecting start of next cycle Change a dosage – Atlas (atlasemar.com)
