Introduction
Welcome to Sana. Sana is your AI-powered assistant, built into your daily workflow. It helps you find information, answer questions, and complete tasks using your company’s data—all from one conversational interface.
What you can do with Sana
Ask questions and take action
Ask anything in natural language and get answers from your company data (Workday and your connected apps) with citations.
Complete HR and Finance tasks in chat—request time off, check pay, view goals, submit time—without opening separate systems.
Use Sana to act on your behalf (send an email, create an event). You approve or reject before anything is sent.
Add context with files, web, and apps
Upload documents (PDF, spreadsheet, slide deck, image) for Sana to summarize, analyze, or answer questions about.
Turn on Web Search to include public results alongside internal data.
Connect your own accounts (Gmail, Google Drive, Outlook, Salesforce, Zoom) so Sana can search and act across your apps. All connectors must be enabled by your Workspace Admin first.
Manage your account
View and continue past conversations from chat history.
Update your profile and manage connected apps.
Export your data (chats and files) from Privacy settings.
How to get started
Step 1: Log in to Sana
Sana uses Single Sign-On (SSO) connected to your Workday identity. There is no separate account to create - your access is automatically provisioned from Workday.
From Workday, click the Sana Agent link on your Workday homepage or in Workday search results. This will open Sana directly without an extra login
Step 2: Explore the interface
With the main workspace, you can start a new chat, revisit recent conversations, or access your settings from the sidebar. Once logged in, you will see the main workspace:
Chat input bar: The main user interface to ask questions or make requests.
+ New chat: Starts a fresh conversation.
Recent: A history of your past conversations (visible only to you).
Connectors: Where you can connect external tools.
Note: Only the Workday connector is available to Sana Core users. Other connectors are only available to Sana Enterprise users. Please check with your Workday Admin if you're unsure about your license
Step 3: Try your first prompt
In the chat, type a question in natural language and Sana will answer with citations so you can verify the source. Try one of these:
For HR information: "How many vacation days do I have left?"
For pay information: "When is my next paycheck?"
Step 4: Choose your sources
Use the + button to choose where Sana looks for answers. Before or during a conversation, click + (or Sources below the chat input) to:
Upload a file for in-chat analysis.
Select specific Connectors to focus your search.
Turn Web Search on or off
Your profile
Your profile information (name, email, job title) is already pre-filled from Workday. You do not need to set anything up. To review or learn more about your profile settings, click on your name on the bottom left corner
FAQ
Q: Can my manager see what I ask Sana?
A: No. Your conversations are private. Admins and managers cannot view your chat history or the files you upload.
Q: Do I need to create an account?
A: No. Your access is automatically provisioned from Workday. There is no separate account or password to create.
Q: Do I need to connect my own apps (Gmail, Outlook, etc.)?
A: You can use Sana with Workday right away. Connecting apps like Gmail or Outlook is optional and lets Sana search and act across those tools. Your Workspace Admin must enable each connector first.
Q: What if I don’t see a connector I need?
A: Ask your Workspace Admin. Connectors are enabled per workspace, so Admins control which ones are available.
Q: Who controls whether web search is available?
A: Your Workspace Admin controls whether web search is available for your workspace. If web search is available, you can turn web search on or off per conversation
