Why did my discount disappear at checkout?

Learn why your discount code or promotion was shown in your basket but disappeared at checkout, and what to do about it.

If you saw a discount applied in your basket but it vanished or didn't apply when you reached checkout, here's what's most likely happening.

The main reason: Only one discount per order

Huel's system can only apply one discount code at a time per order. If you have:

  • A new customer code

  • A referral code

  • A promotional code

...we'd recommend using the one that gives you the best value, expires soonest, or can't be used on a future order, such as a new customer or referral code.

This doesn't affect our automatic subscription or large order discounts, which can still be used alongside a manually added discount code.

When you browse and add items to your basket, Huel displays every discount you're eligible for. This is meant to help you see all your options.

How to check which discount applied

Once your order is confirmed:

  1. Go to your Account on huel.com

  2. Click Order History

  3. Find your order and check the Discount line in your total calculation

  4. You'll see exactly which automatic discount and/or custom discount code was used and how much you saved

What you can do

Before checkout:

  • If you're manually entering a code, make sure to enter it and click 'apply'

  • Read the code's terms — new customer codes often have a minimum basket value (usually £60+)

  • Check whether the code excludes certain products or bundles — even codes advertised as "off everything" may have exclusions. These will be listed in the terms of the email you received.

  • If you have a choice between multiple codes, we'd recommend using the one that gives you the best value, expires soonest, or can't be used on a future order, such as a new customer or referral code.

If your discount didn't apply:

  • Double-check you're eligible (new customer codes only work on first orders, referral codes require account setup, etc.)

  • Verify the code is still valid — some codes expire

  • Make sure your basket meets the minimum spend requirement

  • Check whether your basket contains bundles or specific products that may be excluded from the promotion

  • A screenshot of your basket before checkout

  • Your order number (if you've already placed the order)
