Adding remarks to Instructions with Step Notes

Steps Notes allows your Team to access additional information

Updated over 3 months ago

Use Existing Step Notes

You can create Step Notes that will allow your Teams to write additional information. As long as the Step Note has an eye icon enable, it will be visible to your Guides.

Some examples:

  • Equipment: Editors will then be able to write which equipment is required to execute each of their procedural task.

  • Location: Editors will then be able to write where the specific machinery or component is located on the line, on the shop floor, or at which machine.

  • Tools: Editors will then be able to write which tools are needed to execute each of their procedural tasks.

Edit Existing Step Notes

Only Platform Admin can edit Steps Notes.

When editing an existing Step Notes, the icon and the name of the respective Step Note will be replaced in all the Guides, but its content will be kept as it is.

Note: Consider creating a Custom Step Note if the content won't fit the icon and the name. If you choose to make changes, double check the content of this Step Note to make sure it fits.

  1. Click the pencil icon on the Step Note you want to edit

2. Upload new Icon by clicking below "Upload Step Note Icon" or dragging and dropping the new one to the corresponding field

3. Enter a new name for this Step Note

4. Click "SAVE"

5. Click the "eye" icon to make this new Step Note visible on your Platform.

Create Custom Step Notes

You can create as many Custom Step Notes as you want but you can only have a maximum of 5 Step Notes Visible on your Platform.

Only Platform Admin can customize Step Notes.

Note: Disabling a Step Note that has been used already on your Workspaces, implies that the content you've created under that Step Note will be hidden. Check which guides will be affected before making this choice!

1. Click "Settings" then click "Platform" on the main menu of the platform

2. Click "Step Notes" tab

3. Click "Add new Step Note"

Note: if it does not show, you might need to scroll down.

4. Upload Step Note Icon

5. Enter Step Note name

6. Add a translation for this Step Note name in the corresponding fields

Note: If your content is available to end-users in multiple languages, you'll want to create translations for your Step Note Names as well so that you'll have consistency across your Workspace. Otherwise, leave the field empty.

7. Click "SAVE"

Your Step Note is now saved yet disabled from your Platform Editor and Workspaces

Note: You can make it visible on your Platform Editor & Workspaces or hide it again by clicking the "eye" icon. Keep in mind that there can be only 5 Step Notes visible at the same time.
