General rules of SnappCar

Updated over a month ago

Our general terms and conditions apply to everyone who uses our service to rent or share a car. You accept these terms when registering on our platform and when making a booking via our website or mobile app.

We recommend reading these terms carefully so you understand your rights and obligations when using SnappCar. Click here to view our Terms & Conditions.

SnappCar’s Role as a Digital Platform

SnappCar was founded in late 2011 and has developed an innovative service: a platform (website + app) that allows individuals to share their own cars.

SnappCar offers a service that consists of providing and facilitating an online platform where private car rentals between individuals are made possible. The people involved in the booking, the renter and the car owner, enter into a legal agreement offered through the SnappCar platform.

SnappCar is not a legal party to the rental agreement between renter and owner. Additionally, both renter and owner enter into the insurance agreement simultaneously with the rental agreement. SnappCar is not a legal party to the insurance contract either.

Fines and Cancellations

When renting a car via SnappCar, you agree to the Terms & Conditions. These also include the rules for cancelling a booking and the general fine policy. You can find the specific fees and penalties here.

Complaints or Conflicts

It is common for renters and owners to communicate about new, ongoing, or past bookings. This can be done via Messages on the website, in the app, or by using the contact details provided in the booking.

If a conflict arises between renter and owner, we expect both parties to first try to resolve it together. If that fails, the issue can be submitted to SnappCar. We aim to mediate fairly and consider both sides. Please read our insurance terms and general terms carefully to understand what is covered and what needs to be resolved between you and the other party.

Privacy

At SnappCar, trust and safety are essential. Your privacy matters to us, and we want to inform you about how we collect and use personal data. For more information and contact details, please read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
