Create surfaces from lines in a geometry

Here's how you create surfaces from lines in Design.

Updated over a week ago

Follow these steps to create surfaces from lines in Design.

  1. To create surfaces from lines, you need to be in editing mode in a design.

  2. To create a surface within a closed line, double-click on the line, or right-click and choose Select line/polygon. The line will turn green, indicating it is selected. You can also include standalone points or other lines in the triangulation.

  3. To triangulate the selected objects, go to FUNCTIONS - Triangulate and click Confirm. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut T.

  4. A triangulated surface will be displayed by default, with the visible surface from the top, including its break lines. You can adjust this via right-click OPTIONS - Double-sided mode.

  5. Save the surface in the geometry by pressing Ctrl+s.

Below are the options you can make with a triangulated surface in editing mode:

Flip break line

Right-click on a break line and select Flip break line.

Delete triangle

Right-click on a triangle and select Delete triangle.

Delete point

Right-click on a point and select Delete point.

Flip triangle

Right-click on a triangle and select Flip triangle.

Focus geometry

If it is a new geometry that has not been saved in the object list, you can right-click and choose OPTIONS - Focus geometry to focus the camera on the object.

Show double-sided surface

For simpler modeling, you can switch to double-sided mode, where the surface is visible from both sides. Right-click and choose OPTIONS - Double-sided mode.
