Tools and Features in SkyView
Updated yesterday

SkyView is packed with practical tools gathered in a clear and easily accessible toolbar. Here, we briefly describe some of the most commonly used tools.

Design

With SkyMap Design, it's easy for you to create and modify drawings and 3D models for machine control or GNSS pole. With SkyMap Design, you can:

  • Scale PDF files.

  • Scale DWG/DXF-files.

  • Create elevated points, lines, and surfaces.

  • Export as LandXML, KML and DXF.

Comment

Link a comment to a specific point as a note to yourself or to inform others involved in the project. The comment is saved in the object list and can be turned on or off as needed and removed when it is no longer relevant. You can also choose to link a file that you upload or that is already uploaded in the File Manager.

Measurement

Using the measurement tool, you can select an area in the digital twin, take measurements to see length or area, and find the height of a specific point. The lines and areas created are saved in the object list where you can rename them to be able to return later. You can also export the geometries as a txt file with coordinates.

Advanced Measurement

With advanced measurement, you can measure on CAD layers, areas, lines, and 3D models. The tool does not "snap" to the ground but only to CAD layers, etc.

Inspect

Review the high-resolution original photos in the orthophoto to inspect details. The tool is particularly appreciated by property managers who use it to inspect, for example, roofs, gutters, and facades. Make markings directly in the image and save to action plan or similar.

Compare Orthophotos

To more easily see the development over time and follow the progress in a project, the function to compare orthophotos is available. Through the function, you can select the two time points in the project you want to compare and by moving the slider over the photos, see the difference. This gives you a clear overview of the changes between the two time points.

Volume Calculation

In just a few seconds, you get an accurate calculation of heaps, pits, or CAD files and show the need for excavation and fill. The result is displayed "flying" above the object that has been calculated so that you can get a better understanding of the volume but can easily be placed level with the object by moving the Lift up volume slider. Support for calculations from area/CAD file to a point cloud/area/CAD file and to have multiple calculations per object. Then present the calculations in a volume report with accompanying overview image.

The calculation provides an accurate result with a deviation of less than 1%.

Background Map

Activate a background map in orthoview as a complement to your flight or as a basis if missing. Choose between road and satellite.

Reference Surface

Get an overview of height conditions, visually see height differences, and control slopes, drainage, or planned height for buildings and structures. Set a desired reference height or scroll to lift or lower centimeters at a time and follow the change over the area.

CAD Files

By gathering all drawings and models in one place and being able to visualize the project in 3D, everyone involved gets a good overview and a common picture of what needs to be done. You can avoid collisions between different disciplines, plan logistics, get support for the APD plan, avoid production stops, and anticipate problems before they arise. File formats that can be visualized in SkyView are .dwg, .dxf, .xml, .geo, and .glb.

Ground Models

Generation of ground models using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to visualize in SkyView.

Share View

With many involved in a project, communication is extremely important for everyone to understand and have the same picture of the conditions. With the share view function, you select the information you want to show, for example, a 3D image and one or more CAD layers, and send a sharing link to your customer, colleague, or contractor. You control what, how, and when they should see the information.
