Move Files and Folders

This section describes how to move files and folders in the File Manager.

To move files and folders, you need to have the role of Company Admin or the Write permission on the affected folders if you are a Project Participant.

Follow these steps to move files and folders:

  1. Select the files and folders you want to move by checking the checkboxes in front of each object.

  2. Hover the cursor over an object to be moved and hold down the left mouse button while dragging your selection to the target folder, where you release the mouse button.

  3. A dialog appears, showing the number of files/folders to be moved and the destination folder. Click the Start button.

    If a project participant lacks Write permission to any of the folders where files/folders are affected, an error message is displayed, indicating that the user does not have access to the current folder or files.

  4. If a file with the same name already exists in the target folder, a message is displayed where you can choose to provide a new name for the file or skip the file. Adjust the filename in the dialog and click Continue. If you want to skip the file, click Skip. Similarly, if a folder already exists in the target folder, a message is displayed where you can provide a new name for the folder or skip the folder.
