Installing the Chime
For a complete guide of things to know before set-up, see here.
To set up, follow the step-by-step set up guide in the Sky Protect app. Here’s some tips to help you get up and running.
1. Open the Sky Protect app and select the Video Doorbell tile under ‘Connect your device’ on the home screen.
2. Use the provided power adapter to connect the chime to a power socket. Once the Chime is plugged in, a yellow light will appear at the top and then flash for a short while.
3. Plug one end of the ethernet cable into the ethernet port on your Chime. Then, connect the opposite end into one of the ethernet ports on your Wi-Fi router, which are often labelled LAN (Local Area Network) or 'LAN1,' 'LAN2'.
4. After inserting the ethernet cable, the flashing light on the Chime will turn solid blue, indicating that it's connected to the internet. If you see a flashing blue light, try removing and reinserting both ends of the ethernet cable until you hear a click, ensuring it's securely connected.
5. When prompted by the app, push the sync button located on the left-hand side of the Chime until you hear a click, and the solid blue light starts to flash yellow and blue.
6. It's important to keep the Sky Protect app open during the Chime installation process. Make sure you are following the steps as prompted in the app.
7. Once the Chime is set up, you can assign a name to the Chime and select its location.
Installing the Video Doorbell:
To set up, follow the step-by-step set up guide in the Sky Protect app. Here’s some tips to help you get up and running.
Your Video Doorbell should have around 80% battery charge. We recommend you charge the Video Doorbell for 4 hours first, using the provided charging cable, which can be plugged into the USB port on the chime. Please note that you cannot set up your Video Doorbell while it is charging.
Make sure the Chime is set up successfully and has a solid blue light on the top.
1. Lift the rubber seal on the back of the doorbell and switch it on. The circular light will turn yellow.
2. Pair the chime to the doorbell by pressing the sync button, making sure you press the sync buttons firmly in the correct order shown on the app. Chime, then Video Doorbell.
3. Once you have pressed the sync button on both the Chime and the Video Doorbell, you will hear a voice say, ‘Your Doorbell is pairing, it won’t take long.’ and both the Chime and Video Doorbell will flash yellow and blue. If you don’t hear this, retry the previous step.
4. After setting up the Video Doorbell, you can assign a name and select its location.
5. Press the button on your doorbell to test it. You should hear a chime and get a notification from your Sky Protect app.

Choosing the right spot
Before finalising the mounting position, check the live stream and make sure that you are happy with the view on your phone screen in the Sky Protect app.
Install your Video Doorbell on a flat surface at a height between 1.2 – 1.5 meters using the provided back plate. This will ensure the clearest picture of the area around your door.
If your surface isn't completely flat, use the included wedges to adjust the angle and improve the field of view and motion detection.
Considerations for mounting:
Check if you can use the existing holes and screw plugs on the wall or door frame.
If you plan to position the doorbell near a side wall, ensure that the wall is not within the field of view, as it can affect night vision.
To adjust the viewing angle, you can use the horizontal or vertical mounting wedge in addition to the standard back plate.
You can also personalise the area you would like your Video Doorbell to give you notifications about by adjusting your Activity Zone.

Mounting the back plate on wood or plastic - If you’re mounting the doorbell on a soft wooden or plastic surface, you don’t need to pre-drill pilot holes. Use the provided screws, without the screw plugs, to secure the back plate on the wall.
Mounting the back plate onto masonry - If you’re mounting the Video Doorbell on a hard surface like brick or concrete, drill two holes the required depth with a 6mm drill bit. Insert the wall plugs, then secure plate using screws.
Mounting the Video Doorbell to the back plate - Align the doorbell at the top of the back plate then make sure the bottom clip on the back plate engages with doorbell. Press down until the doorbell clicks into place. That’s it. You’re all set.
Good to know: You can use the bracket as a template to mark the two holes with a pencil.
