We have redesigned the "Rehire" function in the Employee card with a cleaner interface and improved navigation. These enhancements provide a clearer overview of an employee’s employment history and make the system better equipped for future features - especially around flexible employment setups.
A clearer view of employments
Previously, all contracts across an employee’s history were displayed in a single list, separated only by “end of employment” cards. This made it hard to differentiate between employments.
Now, each employment is grouped into its own section, containing its contracts.
All employments are now accessible in a new Employment overview, detailed further below.
Navigating the "Contracts" tab
The tab is still called “Contracts”, but within it, you now navigate through specific employments. When entering the tab, you'll automatically land in the most relevant employment:
For active employees: You see the active employment and its associated contracts.
For ended employees: You are taken to the "Employment overview" to easily create a new employment.
For not-started employees: You land in the upcoming employment.
Managing employments: Go to the "Employment overview"
To switch between employments or create a new one:
Click the “Employments” button in the top-left corner of the Contracts view.
This opens the "Employment overview" – a structured table displaying all employments for the employee.
The Employment Overview includes:
Employment period
Department (from the most relevant contract)
Title (from the most relevant contract)
Employment status: "Active", "Ended", or "Upcoming"
When you enter an employment by clicking on the employment period you can:
View any employment and its contracts
Amend contracts or employment dates
End an employment
Create a new employment
To create a new employment:
Go to the "Employment overview" and click “Create employment”.
Choose a start date, this becomes the start date of both the new employment and its first contract.
Fill in the Create contract form that appears.
Once you click “Create contract”, you are directed into the newly created employment.
New display in Employee list
If an employee has both an active and an upcoming employment, their employee list entry will reflect both in the "Contracts" tab:
You’ll still see the employee’s name as usual.
Then you'll see:
Two lines of contract information are shown:
One from the active contract in the current employment
One from the first contract in the upcoming employment
Clicking on the employee’s name will always take you to the current (active) employment.
Note: This behavior is disabled if “Restrict future rehire” is enabled in the General settings. In that case, upcoming employments won’t be visible until the current employment ends.
