Consent for marketing communications (Double opt-in)
Updated over a year ago

In this tutorial, we'll show you how to enable the consent for marketing communications with a double opt-in from your forms in Samdock.

☝ The double opt-in occurs when a user signs up for marketing communication emails, and a verification email is sent to their inbox to confirm the subscription. While it's not an obligatory requirement under the GDPR regulation, it's considered a best practice in the European Union.

Whenever you create a new Inbound source in Samdock, you can choose to include a double opt-in to invite users to receive marketing communications from you.

Add double opt-in

From Settings, click on Request sources, and then create a New source (a form or connecting our custom API) or click on the one you'd like to edit.

Once in the configurations section, you'll see the checkbox to enable the consent for marketing communications.

Once you click on it, you'll see some more options displayed:

  • Thank you page URL: enter the link to the page you wish your users will be redirected to after they complete the form

  • Customize DOI (double opt-in) email: click here to customize the email your subscribers will receive to double opt-in to your marketing communications.

Customize double opt-in (DOI) email

Here you'll be able to edit the verification email.

To start, click on Customize DOI email.

Email content

By default, you already have some standard copy you can use, but we encourage you to personalize it to fit your brand tone and voice.

Here's what you can edit:

  • The subject line of the email

  • Heading

  • Sub-text

  • Button text

  • Footer hint text

Load an existing configuration

Most likely, you’ll have more than one form in place. To save time, you can choose to load the customized text you entered for your other Contact page forms or API sources into the one you’re working on.

Style and imprint

Once you’ve finished editing the content, click on Style and imprint to customize:

  • Brand color: your company’s color that will be on the buttons of the email

  • Text color on brand: your brand’s color for body text

  • Footer link text: the text that will go with your company’s website URL

  • Footer link URL: your company’s website URL

How the subscriber will see the double opt-in

Once the subscribers fill in the contact form, they’ll check the checkbox to receive marketing communications from you and they’ll be sent the double opt-in email you’ve configured similar to this one below:
