The double opt-in mail (DOI mail for short) is an extremely important and necessary step in dealing with your customers in a data-protection-safe manner. The procedure of a DOI mail aims at the consent of your customers to receive marketing information from you.

Among other things, this legally secures you for the proper sending of your newsletter.

The two-step double opt-in registration process ensures this protection. After their registration, your customers receive an activation link, which must be confirmed in the next step.

This consent is noted in Samdock directly at the respective contact and can thus be verified at any time. In Samdock, setting up a DOI mail is very simple. Since this mail is relevant for new incoming requests, you always create it in connection with a contact form or an inbound source.

Therefore, first learn how to create a contact form or an API source.

Step 1: Select marketing consent

When settings up a contact form or an API source you need to decide if you want to get marketing consent from new contacts. To do this, simply check the "Accept marketing submissions" box.

Step 2: Set the subject of the DOI mail

A pop-up will open where you can customize the DOI mail. If you have already created DOI mails for other contact forms or inbound sources, you can always reuse an existing DOI mail.

In the next step, enter the subject that you want your mail to have.

Step 3: Customize mail content

A DOI email is purpose-bound and has clear legal requirements regarding the content. Therefore, we suggest a standard text with common wording for this mail.

Nevertheless, we want to give you the possibility to customize the text in your company language, so in the following three fields you can change and customize the title (headline of the content), the text and finally the text of the confirmation button.

Your logo will automatically appear in your mail. Therefore, make sure that you have uploaded it in your company information. You can find this in the settings (ony for admins).

Step 4: Customize footer text

Like most mails, the DOI mail also contains a footer. Here you can also replace our suggestion with your own text. When you are done with this, click on "next".

Step 5: Customize design

In the next step you can adapt the mail to the colors of your company and thus ensure your corporate identity. You can choose the color of the button and the color of the text inside the button. You can see the preview of your changes directly below in real time.

Step 6: Link your imprint

It is a legal requirement that your imprint must be accessible with a maximum of two clicks from your DOI mail. Therefore, in the last step, enter the link to your imprint, and we will automatically add it to the footer of this mail.

Perfect! Your double opt-in mail is now ready and you can now communicate with your prospects in an GDPR-compliant manner.
