How to renew or cancel your Poppy Lease rental and return the vehicle

Whether you want to extend your rental or return your Poppy Lease vehicle, here’s everything you need to know in one place.

✅ Want to keep the vehicle?

Depending on your contract, your rental automatically renews every month (each billing period = 1 month). No action is required from you if you wish to keep the car for another month.


🛑 Want to cancel your rental? (monthly renewal)

If you have a monthly renewal contract, you can cancel any time after the first month, but ensure you follow these steps:

  1. Cancel at least 14 days before your next billing date.

  2. Do it easily through your customer profile on the Poppy Lease website.

  3. Ensure the vehicle is returned before the end of the current billing period.

⚠️ Late cancellation warning: If we receive your cancellation too late and the car is not returned on time, your rental will automatically extend for one more month.


❌ Ending a long-term contract early

If you end a non-flexible Poppy Lease contract (longer than 1 month) before the agreed-upon end date, an early cancellation fee will apply. This fee covers two components:

  1. Remaining months fee: You will be charged €50 for every full month left on your contract that you will not use.

  2. Discount adjustment: Since longer contracts receive a monthly discount, ending early means you lose that discount. We will charge you an additional amount to correct the difference between the discounted price you paid and the standard monthly price for the duration you actually rented.

💡 Example: If you chose a 9-month contract but end it after 3 months, the pricing will be adjusted to match the next shortest available contract rate (ex: the 6-month rate).


🚘 How to return the vehicle

Once your cancellation is confirmed, our team will contact you to schedule the return or pick-up appointment.

  • Free return to Vilvoorde: Make an appointment to return your car from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 and 16:00

  • Home pick-up (€139 incl. VAT): We’ll collect the car at your address on a weekday that suits you

We take photos together, and both parties sign a final check-in report.

Condition standards

We use the official Renta standards, which are standard across all Belgian rental companies. Only new damage is taken into account; do not worry about old scratches documented during pickup.

Deposit refund

Your full deposit will be refunded, minus any applicable fees for: missing fuel (must be full tank), cleaning, extra mileage, or new damage.
