Booking a DRT ride

Trips and Tickets app guide

Updated over 4 months ago

1. Demand responsive transport in the Trips and Tickets app

  • Download the Trips and Tickets app from Google Play or the App Store. You need to store your name and phone number in the app to book a ride. If necessary, check the instructions on setting up the application.

  • Demand responsive transport (DRT) is public transport based on customers’ own schedules and routes. With the Trips and Tickets app, you can book a DRT ride for your desired trip subject to the applicable service area and times.

  • Be at the pick-up point on time, because the vehicle can’t wait. The pick-up time is indicated in a flexible time slot to allow combining different customers’ rides. However, be prepared to be at the pick-up point at the earliest possible pick-up time.

  • The DRT service will pick you up as close to your chosen address as possible and take you close to your chosen destination. Some DRT services pick up customers from specific stops, as a rule. The pick-up location is shown in the app.

  • You can also search for routes and buy tickets outside the DRT area. The app can automatically suggest a route that combines DRT and bus or train services.

  • For more details about service areas and times, prices, service-specific instructions and terms of use, see the website of the specific DRT service. Click here to see the list of all demand responsive as well as scheduled services available in the app.

2. Enter addresses, time, passengers and aids, and specify your route

  • Enter the departure and arrival addresses in the From (A) and To (B) fields of the app or select them from the map. The departure point (A) defaults to your current location. You can bookmark the addresses you use most often as favourites by clicking on the star icon in front of them. You can only book a ride between addresses within the service area.

  • Set your preferred departure or arrival time in the top right-hand corner. The default is to depart as soon as possible. Book well in advance to ensure a ride at your preferred time. Set an “arrive latest by” time to ensure arrival at your destination by a certain time.

  • Enter the number of passengers and any aids in the passenger settings under the address fields. The default is one passenger. Always indicate if you are travelling with a walker, wheelchair or stroller. In the settings, you can also request a pick-up from a specific address if necessary, even if the DRT service in question should normally pick up passengers at stops.

  • Click on “Search Trips and Ticketsand see the routes suggested by the app. The journey planner can also suggest other transport options in addition to the DRT service. If a DRT ride is available for the journey you want, you can see it from the DRT code.

3. Select the trip and tickets you want and confirm your booking

  • Click on the DRT route to see more details. The pick-up and arrival times are given in time slots, so that your trip can be combined with those of other passengers. Be prepared to be at the pick-up point at the earliest possible pick-up time. You can track the arrival of the vehicle 10 minutes before the earliest possible pick-up time.

  • Choose the right ticket product for each passenger. Click on “Show more” to see all ticket products. If necessary, you can give the driver additional information, such as instructions on how to identify the pick-up point. However, if you want to change the pick-up location or time, for example, you will need to search for the route again with the changed information.

  • Select the method of payment. Click here for instructions if needed. If you want to pay for your ride on board or use a valid ticket, select “I want to pay in the vehicle or I have a valid ticket” as the payment method when booking. Payment on board is not possible if you book your ride as part of a travel chain.

  • Scroll down the view and confirm your booking with the “Swipe to order” button. Accept the terms and conditions when you use the service for the first time.

4. Track the trip and travel

  • Open your trip from the home page of the app or from the Tickets section.

  • Be prepared to be at the pick-up point at the earliest possible pickup time. The vehicle cannot wait as it has to keep to the schedule promised to other customers. The promised pick-up time can be found in the booking details.

  • You can track the arrival of the vehicle 10 minutes before the earliest possible pick-up time. You will receive a notification on your phone. The estimated pick-up time is updated in real time based on the location of the vehicle and may change backwards or forwards within the promised time slot. You can also see the location of the vehicle on the map.

  • You will be able to identify the right vehicle from the unique ID of the DRT service and the name of the vehicle indicated in the app. The customer must proceed independently to the pick-up location indicated in the app. The driver will not come to get you at your door unless specifically stated in the service-specific instructions.

  • Tell the driver the name you used when ordering your ride. You do not need to show your ticket if you paid for your trip when booking. If you chose to pay on board, the driver will charge you according to the fare list or check the validity of your ticket.

5. Cancel your booking in time to allow others to use the vehicle

  • If necessary, cancel your booking using the “Cancel” button at the bottom of the page. Confirm your cancellation.

  • For bookings paid through the app, the charge will be automatically refunded if the departure is more than an hour away at the time of cancellation. Subsequent cancellations will not be refunded.

  • Early cancellation is important so that the vehicles are not unnecessarily reserved and are available for other customers.
