Payments with JamDoughnut

There are two two payment options with JamDoughnut:

  1. Pay by Google/Apple Pay using your bank card. This has a lower cash back rate as the cost of processing the payment is more expensive.

  2. Pay by Bank. It's less expensive for us to process each of these payments, so we can give you a better rate of cashback.

    This is also known as a bank transfer, faster payments, or Opening Banking Payments. Our Pay by Bank service provider is called Banked and is registered and regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Processing Payments

99.9% of transactions complete in under 1 minute with most completing in under 30 seconds. There are a few payments where the time to complete takes up to 2 minutes. Very rarely the payments can take longer, under the Open Banking service level agreement. All payments complete within 2 hours. We have occasionally seen this take longer.

In these cases the bank has stopped the payment because of a risk of fraud. This is either they have flagged an issue with sending the payment, which should not be the case as the payment is part of Open Banking or they think there is a risk of payment on your account.

The outcome of the transaction is complete and we receive the money and issue the gift card or the payment fails in which case the bank puts the money back to your account.

Money left my Account but no gift card was issued

Money held by bank

When you pay by Bank, the bank removes the money from your account immediately but they may delay sending the money to us. The payment may show as Pending. Rarely, it may take the bank up to a day to process this, especially if they have strict security protocols and fraud detection, like HSBC.

If this happens, as soon as the bank payment is cleared, the voucher will be issued. If you experience this please contact us and we will help.

In addition to this, and as a first step. we recommend calling your bank as the issue will be caused by them holding the payment. This is very rare but is unfortunately something that we cannot control on our end.

Transaction Time Out

We also have a security system in place that cancels transactions if they take too long to process. This helps ensure that customers who choose to pay by other means are not left with a gift card they no longer want, as we cannot guarantee a refund once a transaction has gone through.

This will automatically trigger a refund in our system which we will see, and get this processed for you.

Our accepted payment window is 10 minutes, so please do give it a few minutes to make sure no gift card is issued within this window.

Direct Transfer

Please do not send us money to our bank account directly, as some bank apps may prompt this when they detect an issue with a payment. Any money sent outside of our app will not issue a gift card, and it will be impossible for us to notice any payments to us that do not match with our systems.

If you have done this, please message us with the payments date, time, amount, and any form of reference or ID, as well as your bank account details, and we will look for this for you and refund this.

Brand Down

Rarely, a brand may have an issue with issuing and process gift cards, and this can prevent you from receiving a gift card. In this case, your payment will not cause a transaction, so we will be able to get this refunded to you.

Can I get a refund for my gift card

Unfortunately, we are unable to directly process a refund once a gift card has been transacted, as all purchases are final with our gift card providers and the brand. We can send an email to see if a brand is willing to provide a refund, but we cannot guarantee this, as this is up to their terms and conditions and refund policy.

Cannot find bank/cannot use credit card

We can only offer our services with banks who have opted in with the Open Banking System we operate with (Truelayer), and we are not able to perform direct bank transfers with banks they do not operate with. We are currently in the process of integrating our app with a new banking system, and we will soon have a larger selection of banks available, please keep on the look out for this!

We prevent credit card purchases if it is made by a non-UK credit card, as the transaction fees for us will be much higher, and may even cost more than the cashback rate we are offering for some brands. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We suggest opening a UK online bank account for free with banks like Starling, Monzo, Revolut, etc., as these banks are all accepted with our Open Banking System, and allow you to get the highest cashback rates available!
