Each gift card and voucher brand on Huggg Payouts has its own terms and conditions. These vary significantly between brands - validity periods, redemption methods, exclusions and balance-checking processes are all set by the retailer, not by Huggg. It's worth checking the relevant brand's T&Cs before sending, especially in time-sensitive cases.
What you'll find for each brand
Each brand's article in the recipient help centre covers:
Exclusions - what the gift card can and cannot be used to buy (for example, supermarket gift cards often exclude lottery tickets, tobacco, postage stamps and petrol)
Shop online vs in store - some brands are redeemable both ways, others are in-store only or online only
Validity period - how long the gift card is valid after issuance. Varies from no expiry to 12 months, depending on the brand
Balance check method - how the recipient can check how much credit is left
Direct T&Cs link - a link straight to the brand's own terms page
Getting help - how to contact the retailer if there's an issue with the gift card itself
When to check before sending
Most of the time you can send without checking - the brands on the platform are well-established and the recipient sees all relevant T&Cs when they claim. The cases where it's worth checking first:
Time-sensitive use cases - if your recipient needs to use it within a specific window, check the validity period (some are as short as 12 months, others have no expiry)
Specific use cases - if you're sending a gift card for a specific purchase (e.g. children's clothing, fuel), check the exclusions list to make sure that category isn't restricted
Restricted recipient locations - some gift cards are UK-only or have geographic restrictions; check before sending to a recipient outside the UK
