Ways to show sowing, planting and harvesting dates if your gardens has a short growing season

Updated over 2 months ago

Why don't I see growing dates for some plants?

If there is no growing data for some plants, this is because they require a long season to grow and the average frost dates for your area indicate that your growing season is too short to successfully bring them to a harvestable stage.

Ways to make those pesky growing dates display

However, you may still be able to grow them by starting the seedlings indoors or under glass, or by using frost protection coverings. You can add season extender icons such as greenhouses, hoop houses (polytunnels), row covers etc to your plan on top of your plants and this will automatically extend their dates.

Alternatively, if you believe that your area has a microclimate different to the nearest weather station, you can adjust the Frost Dates used by the Garden Planner in your Account Settings. You can also set your own growing dates for any crop if you prefer.
