Single line diagrams (electrical schematics) are legally required in virtually all European markets - for grid connection approvals, installation documentation, and system manuals. The first time you open the single line diagram, Eturnity generates it from your string design and the components of the variant – nothing has to be transferred, so there are no transfer errors. After that, the saved diagram stays as it is: if you change the string design later, bring the change in with Reload from project data (icon at the bottom right); the diagram is rebuilt, and your manual changes are lost. If a component or string from the project data is missing from the diagram, if there is one too many, or if a value such as the number of panels has changed, Eturnity points this out when you open the diagram.
When generating the diagram, Eturnity connects the strings to the MPPT inputs of their inverters, assigned batteries to the battery input, and the inverters via the meters and the house connection to the mains connection; heat pumps, charging stations and energy management are connected to the consumption element. You add switches and protective devices yourself.

The Single Line Diagram feature has a comprehensive, PV-specific component library – the Add elements bar on the left edge:
Standard PV Components: PV panels, inverters (single-phase/three-phase), battery storage
Hybrid Systems: Hybrid inverters with integrated battery storage
Protection Components: DC/AC disconnectors, surge protection, fuses
Sensors & meters: Energy meters, also with CT measurement, and energy flow sensors

Flexible component: Round or square, for all other components
License note: If the single line diagram opens blurred with an upgrade window, it is not included in your license. There, Start free trial starts a trial period if your company has not used one yet; Upgrade now requests an upgrade. If the menu item is missing altogether, none of the technologies Photovoltaics, Battery, Charging station or Energy management is active in the variant.
How It Works - It's That Simple
Automatic Generation
In the Solar Expert, open a project whose variant has Photovoltaics, Battery, Charging station or Energy management active
Make sure your string design is complete – ideally before you open the single line diagram for the first time
In the left side menu, click Single line diagram in the Planning group. In the older navigation, expand Technical plans first
The first time you open it, Eturnity automatically creates the single line diagram from your string design and the components of the variant; you add switches and protective devices yourself
Important note: Without a complete string design, the strings are missing from the diagram and the inverters stay unconnected on the DC side. You can wire them manually, but we recommend completing the string design first. If you opened the diagram before completing the string design, or if you change the string design later, the diagram does not pick this up by itself: click Reload from project data at the bottom right (the name appears when you hover over it). Your manual changes are lost in the process.
Individual Customization and Editing
The automatically generated single line diagram is usually ready to use, but can be individually customized:
Move components: Drag & drop for optimal arrangement
Add labels: Click on components for individual labels
Additional components: Drag them from the Add elements bar on the left edge onto the drawing area
Auto-layout (icon at the bottom right): Rearranges strings, inverters, batteries, meters, the house and mains connections and the consumers. Text boxes, frames you added yourself and the other switches and protective devices stay where they are; the legend goes back to one column and its default color
Reload from project data (icon at the bottom right): Rebuilds the diagram from the project data after changes to the string design. Your manual changes are lost; Undo brings them back as long as you have not left the single line diagram
Add notes: Text fields for additional information
Professional PDF Export
Click Generate PDF at the top right. Eturnity saves any unsaved changes and shows the preview of the page (A4 landscape, with title block)
Review the layout and components
Eturnity automatically fits the diagram to the page
Click Save document in the Export file bar on the right. Eturnity creates the PDF and stores it in the project's File manager
Download the finished document from the File manager; the message after saving takes you straight there with Open documents
