Retire vs Delete — What’s the Difference?
Retiring a Release removes it from sale in the elasticStage store. Fans will no longer be able to purchase it.
Deleting a Release permanently removes it from your account.
Important: A Release must be retired before it can be deleted.
How to Retire a Release
Go to the Releases page.
Click the orange Edit button.
3. Locate the Release you want to retire and click the red bin.
4. Follow the on-screen confirmation steps.
Once retired, the Release will no longer be visible for purchase.
How to Delete a Release
After retiring the Release:
Return to the Releases page.
Click Edit.
Click the red bin icon next to the retired Release.
4. Confirm deletion.
Your Release will then be permanently removed from your account.
Will Retiring or Deleting Affect Outstanding Orders?
No.
Any open customer orders — including Test Records — will still be completed.
Our factory securely stores all production data required to fulfil existing orders, even if the Release is retired or deleted from your dashboard.
When Should I Retire a Release?
Common reasons include:
You created a corrected version using the Clone method
You no longer wish to sell the product
You are replacing the Release with a new edition
If you are updating audio or artwork, we recommend cloning first, publishing the new version, and only then retiring the old one.
Summary
Retire removes a Release from sale.
Delete permanently removes it from your account.
A Release must be retired before it can be deleted.
Outstanding orders are never affected.
