A Home Override hours function is provided in the ‘Edit Home’ box. This allows a number of whole hours to be added to the DepenSys Hours total for the home in addition to the figure calculated by DepenSys from the residents’ needs, and the extra hours are shown on the Home Dashboard. The ‘Override Reason’ box is a drop down selection with the following examples:
Geography – the home layout presents issues in staff moving around it, e.g. a converted building rather than purpose-built, or there is more than one building on the site which staff move between;
Quality Factors – a choice is made to increase staffing levels in a policy to improve quality of care, either permanently or temporarily whilst improvements are made e.g. as a result of care regulatory findings;
Safety Factors – e.g. staffing is increased where more are needed in the event of a fire to safely evacuate or move residents to another ‘compartment’.
