By default, Bookboost keeps your Mews data current by checking Mews on a schedule (polling) about every five minutes. We've added a faster option: webhook mode. When webhook mode is on, Mews tells Bookboost the moment something changes on a reservation, so the update flows into Bookboost as it happens rather than waiting for the next scheduled check — faster than the 5-minute poll.
This feature is currently in beta and is turned on per property on request.
How it works
Mews notifies Bookboost when something changes. Instead of Bookboost repeatedly asking Mews "has anything changed?" on a timer, Mews sends a signal (a webhook) the moment a relevant change happens, and Bookboost updates that reservation straight away.
It responds to the key Mews changes. Webhook mode reacts to the Mews events that matter for guest and reservation data, such as reservation/service order updates, new and updated customers, and resource changes.
It replaces polling for your property. When webhook mode is enabled, your integration switches from the scheduled poll to webhook-driven updates. You don't need to change how you work in Mews or Bookboost — the data just arrives faster.
Why you might want it
Reservation changes sync faster. Updates made in Mews reach Bookboost faster than the standard 5-minute poll.
Better for active properties. Properties with high booking volume no longer wait on large scheduled syncs, which reduces delay.
Before you switch
It's enabled on request. Webhook mode is in beta. To turn it on, reach out to your Bookboost contact so we can confirm your integration is configured for webhook mode.
Mews has to switch webhooks on for your property. On the Mews side, webhooks are activated manually by Mews customer support. As part of enabling this, the required webhook setup has to be confirmed with Mews for your specific property.
Don't switch if you rely on the pre-check-in flag. The Mews pre-check-in flag (OwnerCheckedin) is not communicated through Mews webhooks, so it would not reach Bookboost in webhook mode. If your workflows depend on that flag, stay on the standard poll for now and let your Bookboost contact know.
Common questions
Do I need to change anything in Mews or Bookboost to use this?
No. Once webhook mode is enabled for your property, your existing setup keeps working — updates simply arrive faster than the 5-minute poll. Enabling it does require Mews to switch webhooks on for your property, which your Bookboost contact will help coordinate.
How do I turn it on?
Contact your Bookboost contact (or support) and ask to enable webhook mode for your Mews integration. We'll confirm your integration is ready and coordinate the Mews-side setup.
