Understanding how Bookboost charges work helps you plan your budget, avoid surprises on your invoices, and know what to expect each billing period. Bookboost uses two distinct billing models depending on the type of service — a fixed subscription fee and variable usage-based charges. 💡
The Two Types of Charges
Bookboost invoices are made up of two separate components:
1. Subscription Fee
Your subscription fee is a fixed recurring charge for access to the Bookboost platform. This amount is agreed upon when you sign your contract and does not change from one billing period to the next (unless your plan changes). Depending on your subscription tier, you will have access to certain features and modules within the platform.
2. Messaging Usage Charges
Messaging usage charges are variable fees based on how many messages you actually send each billing period. These charges apply to outbound messages sent through channels such as:
📱 WhatsApp Business
💬 SMS
Because the number of messages sent varies from one billing period to the next — depending on occupancy, campaigns, and guest activity — the amount on your usage invoice will be different each cycle.
Why Are There Two Separate Invoices?
Your subscription invoice is issued at the start of your billing period (we aim to bill monthly) since the amount is fixed and known in advance.
Your usage invoice is issued at the end of the billing period, once your actual messaging activity has been recorded and calculated. This is why the two invoices may arrive at different times and show different amounts.
What Determines Your Usage Charges?
Messaging costs depend on several factors such as channel type, volume, and destination country. For a detailed breakdown, please refer to the following Help Centre articles:

Known Considerations
Usage charges are not predictable in advance — they depend entirely on how actively you use messaging features each billing period
Setting up budgets or caps — if you want to manage messaging costs, consider reviewing your active campaigns and audience sizes before sending large broadcasts
Conclusion
Bookboost billing combines a predictable fixed subscription with flexible usage-based messaging charges. Knowing the difference helps you understand why invoice amounts vary and when to expect them. 🎯 If you ever have questions about a specific charge on your invoice, the Bookboost Finance team is happy to walk you through it.
