💳 Payment Methods in Bookboost

This article explains which payment methods Bookboost currently supports, how to pay an invoice, and why options like direct debit or standing bank transfers are not available for usage-based invoices. 💡

Supported Payment Methods

Bookboost currently supports the following payment methods:

  • Online payment via Stripe — the recommended method, accessible directly from your invoice

  • Manual bank transfer — available for clients who prefer to pay via wire transfer upon receipt of each invoice

How to Pay an Invoice

When you receive an invoice from Bookboost, it will include a "Pay Online" link. Clicking this link will redirect you to a secure Stripe-powered payment page where you can complete your payment.

On the Stripe payment page you can:

  1. Use a previously saved payment method if one is already stored on your account

  2. Choose from a range of available payment options offered through Stripe at the time of payment

  3. Optionally save your chosen payment method for future invoices

Why Direct Debit & Bank Transfers Cannot Be Automated for Messaging Usage Charges

Many clients ask whether they can set up a SEPA direct debit, a standing order, or another form of automatic bank transfer to avoid manually paying each invoice. Unfortunately, this is not currently possible for messaging usage charges for the following reason:

Bookboost's messaging usage charges are variable — the amount due changes every billing period depending on how many messages were sent. Because the invoice total is different each month, it is not possible to set up a fixed automatic bank transfer in advance. Direct debit and standing orders work best with predictable, fixed amounts, which usage-based billing does not provide.

Your subscription fee, on the other hand, is a fixed recurring amount and can be set up for automatic payment without any issues.

Known Limitations

  • No SEPA direct debit for messaging usage charges — because the amount varies each billing period, Bookboost cannot support automated direct debit for these invoices

  • No standing orders for messaging usage charges — standing bank transfers cannot be used reliably for variable monthly amounts

  • Clients who pay manually via bank transfer should monitor their inbox for invoice emails to ensure timely payment and avoid service interruptions

Conclusion

Bookboost invoices can be paid quickly and securely via the Stripe payment link included in every invoice, or by manual bank transfer. For messaging usage charges specifically, fully automated payment options like direct debit are not currently available due to the variable nature of these charges. Your subscription fee remains predictable and can be automated. 🙌
