The prescription entry process is split into two stages: Patient Name & Item Entry

To enter a prescription the steps below must be followed:

1. Enter the Care Home

Search for the Care Home in the list. As you type, the search list will populate with any Care Homes that your pharmacy currently serves. You will need to continue typing until you narrow the search to one Care Home, and then press ENTER to select and continue. This is a safety feature which helps prevent you inputting the prescription to a different patient in a different Care Home.

NB: You can also use the mouse to tick the box to select the Care Home if you wish

2. Enter the Patient

Please search for the patient using SURNAME first, followed by a space and then the FORENAME

You do not have to type in the full name, but the system will force you to input the first part of both the surname and the forename. Press ENTER when done and this will select the first patient in the patient list. It is best practice to narrow your search to one patient before pressing enter. You can achieve this by typing more of the patients surname and forename.

3. Enter the date on the Rx

This is the date of the prescription. It helps ensure the prescription is valid.

4. Enter the number of items on the Rx

Count the number of items on the prescriptions and input the total into this box. This is used at the next stage to help ensure you have entered all the items.
