Restoring the keyboard on a Zebra device

A situation may arise whereby the keyboard fails to appear after pressing on a field entry on Atlas, resulting in an inability to enter any text at all such as medication names or Pins to log on. This is a rare occurrence and will be related to the settings on the Zebra itself.

A device restart normally resolves this issue however if this does not work please identify if the device is locked down by our MDM first. If so, please contact support to have the device unlocked to allow access to the full settings list on the Zebra.

Once unlocked, from the main screen please pull down on the top bar twice to reveal the settings icon.

Please navigate to System at the bottom



Followed by Languages and Input



Under the settings for On-Screen keyboard, Gboard should be enabled by default however this is the keyboard that may be failing to appear. Please turn 'ZebraCommonIME' ON as an alternative



When next opening an app and clicking on the text entry box, a keyboard should hopefully appear. There may now be a small icon in the bottom right which will allow you to select which keyboard you would like to use if multiple are activated
