To add medication to the pot on Atlas eMAR means the user is confirming that the resident medication has be prepared for administration . All medications that display in red as due should be actioned on the medication round, also any medication which display in white should be reviewed for administration for each patients for each round.
The medication should be added to the pot on the device before the medication has been taken by the resident, and the pot should only be confirmed once the resident has been witnessed taking the medication without spitting any medication out etc. If the medication is added to the pot but then is rejected by the resident, the user must go back into the medication record and change the medication status from ‘added to pot’ to ‘not given’, and select the reason why. The stock level for this medication will still be adjusted to reflect the wasted medication, and it will be possible to try and give the medication again at a later time.
