Sometimes it may be necessary to book in medication that has not been bar coded by your regular Pharmacy; for instance if a resident brings medication into the Care Home with them, if a relative collects their medication from another Pharmacy or if a resident returns from the hospital with new medication.
To book in non-bar coded medication follow this process;
1. Log into the Atlas device and select the Book in stock icon. At the top of the screen will be the option to add item.
2. Select add item, then choose the applicable resident from the drop-down list; select the medication in question from the next drop-down list (this must be a medication which has already been added to the residents records on the Atlas device; to find out more about adding a new medication to a resident click here; How to add a new medication to Atlas eMAR. Enter the amount of medication to book in, then choose where the stock came from and confirm.
Alternatively, medication can be booked in directly from the residents medication screen.
1. Go to the residents' icon on the main homepage, select the resident in question and click on the medication bar at the top of the screen.
2. Click on the medication required for booking in and select the details icon.
3. There are four figures shown towards the bottom of the screen, the top left of these is the current stock level for this medication. Click in stock.
4. This will display the stock details screen. Click book in, add the quantity of stock and select where the stock came from them select confirm the figure will then be added to the stock quantity.
Tips
Fridge lines should be stored appropriately as a matter of urgency.
Controlled drugs should also be recorded in the CD Register and stored in the appropriate place.
A monthly stock take of all medication is recommend before the monthly medication is received to ensure the correct figures on the Altas device before booking in any medication.
