Once you have received your medicine supply you will need to “book in” each medicine using Atlas eMAR, the booking in process is an essential part of auditing the receipt of medication, and stock control.

Tips

  • Fridge lines should be stored appropriately as a matter of urgency.

  • Controlled drugs should also be recorded in the CD Register and stored in the appropriate place.

  • A monthly stock take of all medication is recommend before the monthly medication is received to ensure the correct figures on the Atlas device before booking in any medication.

  • If an error displays when scanning the dispensing label synchronise the device again and repeat the book in process. If the error occurs again make a note of the label number (printed vertically on the left hand side of the dispensing label) and please contact your pharmacy.

To book in your medication follow this process;

1. Log into device and select the Book in stock icon, a quick device synchronisation will take place when loading the booking in screen to ensure you have the most up to date information.

2. All medication which has been dispensed via your pharmacy should have a bar coded dispensing label and display on the booking in screen. Select the resident you wish to book medication in for and scan the bar code on the dispensing label (if you scan the manufacturers bar code it will not recognise the item). Once the bar code has been scanned the medication name and quantity will appear on screen with a green tick to indicate the item has been booked, the quantity will then be added to the stock figure for the item. Repeat this process until all items have been booked in.
