Sharing Plans with your Network Operator

Updated over 9 months ago

Why share?

Sharing insights about your plans with your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) is a valuable step in decarbonisation planning as it allows network operators to plan ahead and ensure the grid has sufficient capacity to support local ambitions.

What is 'ready' to share?

You don't need to wait until a project is completely confirmed before sharing. You can share a project multiple times with your Network Operator. Sharing even at the early planning stages can provide helpful insights that could influence the Distribution Future Energy Scenarios which are used by Distribution Network Operators to inform their network infrastructure upgrades.

Sharing Datasets and Files with your DNO

In addition to the standard Upload function, intended for internal use within your organisation, you can also share uploaded files and datasets directly with your Network Operator. This is a great way to share plans, policies and other relevant items made outside of this application with your Network Operator.

To share an upload with your Network Operator: simply navigate to Map > Data Explorer > Upload and then choose to Upload and share an existing plan or forecast. You can see a list of the files shared with your Network Operator in the ‘Planning Progress’ page, although you won’t be able to view these files unless the uploader has also shared these with you.

Projects:

If you have a Project you plan to take forward, let your network operator(s) know by sharing it with them. You can do this easily within your project once you have run the assessment via the ‘Submit to DNO’ tab and submitting the project assessment form.

Scenarios:

If you have created a Scenario that aligns with your future ambitions or plans, you can choose to share this with your Network Operator. To share, navigate to a complete Scenario and open it up. You can easily share this with your Network Operator(s) by clicking the 'Start' button in this box.
