Currency conversion

You can now see financial figures in the currency that suits you

Written by Admin

Until now, Valona showed every amount in euros. You can now choose another display currency, or see a company's figures in the currency it reports in

Choose your display currency

Go to Settings > App and pick a currency from the Display Currency list, below Language setting:

Your choice applies to all monetary values in the platform:

  • charts, tables and tooltips

  • figures inside insights

  • company PDF exports and bulk exports

Sorting, filtering and number shortening (K, M, B) use the amounts you see on screen. When you sort by net sales, the highest amount in your chosen currency comes first.

If you do nothing, the platform keeps showing euros.

See a company in its own reporting currency

On a company page, a new switch next to the Export button lets you choose between your display currency and the company's local currency. For example:

User's preferred currency is USD, but reporting currency is GBP.

You can now see the figures in reported currency if you so choose:

  • The switch applies to every tab on the company page.

  • In local mode, peer and benchmark figures also use the company's local currency, so charts never mix two currencies.

  • Valona remembers your choice on this device and uses it for every company you open.

  • The switch only appears when the company's local currency differs from your display currency.

Lists, My Radar, data exports and dashboards always use your display currency (profile level setting). This keeps comparisons between companies consistent.

Export in display or local currency

When you export a company report, you can choose Display or Local currency. The option starts on the currency you are viewing the page in. Changing it affects that one export only.

  • Bulk exports: In local mode, each PDF uses the reporting currency of its own company. One batch can therefore contain PDFs in different currencies.

  • Missing exchange rate: If we have no rate for a company's currency, the export uses your display currency and includes a short note that explains why.

  • PowerPoint exports always use your display currency.

Good to know

  • We convert amounts with a fixed set of exchange rates. We do not use daily market rates. When we update these rates, converted figures change. Find out more here

  • EUR is a currency by default

  • If your preferred currency = reporting currency of the company, there will be no currency switch shown

  • It's a personal setting and will not impact other users
