New major capability we bring to you from Valona
A-INSIGHTS Company News already gives you earnings, news, metrics, and analysis, but always tied to specific companies on the platform. Content Discovery lets you go beyond that, searching across the full breadth of Valona's global intelligence database on any topic, trend, region, or technology relevant to your business.
π Content Discovery and VAL let you find, filter, and summarize global business insights in seconds, without doing the research yourself.
You can find it in your navigation pane:

βοΈ How It Works
Content Discovery is powered by the Valona Insights Engine, which continuously monitors over 200,000 global & local sources: trade media, industry publications, company reports, and paywalled sources. All content is filtered for relevance, translated from over 115 languages into English, and processed into original AI-generated summaries capturing the most important business information from each source. The content is updated in near-real time.
Valona's source base grows with your needs. If you find a topic or source that isn't covered yet, let us know β we add new sources on an ongoing basis.
Use Content Discovery to explore
Innovation and scientific developments in your sector
M&A and deal activity across the food value chain
Sustainability, regulation, and ESG developments
Manufacturing and automation trends
Adjacent industries such as packaging, food additives, and agrochemicals
Early signals from China and other markets, only accessible through local-language sources
π Finding What Matters
Content Discovery is where you search and explore business insights. You have two search modes to choose from:
Semantic AI search lets you type a plain English question. It understands the meaning and context of your query, not just the keywords. So a search for "how are dairy companies responding to plant-based competition" will surface relevant insights even if they never use those exact words. This makes it ideal for exploring complex or emerging topics like "What is the impact of GLP-1 drugs on bakery consumption?"
Keyword search lets you build precise queries using the Keyword Builder. Combine four fields: main keywords, all of these words, any of these words, and none of these words. Use this when you are a topic expert and need to control exactly what appears in your results.
All results come back as English AI summaries, even when the original sources are in other languages β giving you access to local insights from China, Germany, Latin America, and 100+ other markets that would otherwise be hard to reach. Each insight links back to the original source so you can verify facts or read further.
π‘ Tip: Put exact phrases in quotes (e.g. "supply chain"). Use AI search to explore, then switch to keyword search when you need precision.
π― Narrowing Down Your Results
Every insight is automatically tagged with structured metadata. Use the filters in the left-hand panel to zoom in:
Industry, theme, or market region
Specific companies or people mentioned
Sentiment (positive, neutral, negative)
Source name, source language, or media type
π‘ Tip: check all the filtering options available
For more complex needs, open Advanced filters to combine OR and NOT conditions, or attach reusable Filter sets you've pre-built in the Monitor page. Results can be sorted by relevance or by date.
Relevance Score tells you how well a result matches your query. For AI search it's a number between 0 and 1 β the closer to 1, the stronger the match. For keyword search it's based on how many terms match, so higher means more relevant. You can set a minimum threshold to keep only the most relevant results, and that filter carries over to your saved searches, feeds, and visualizations.
π‘ Tip: Set a Relevance Score threshold early. It keeps your results clean from the start. Adjust it by dragging the slider or typing a number manually.
Note: Content Discovery uses Valona's own categorization system, which is different from the tags and categories you see elsewhere in A-INSIGHTS.
π Visualize Your Results
Hit the Visualize button to instantly turn your search results into charts. This gives you a bird's-eye view of what's going on - spot patterns, compare regions, or track how a topic evolves over time.
Charts are built from the categories in your results, including market region, organizations mentioned, industries, themes, and sentiment. You can click on any chart element - say, a country or a company name - to see the actual summaries behind it. From there, apply the filter to keep working with that subset, or close the modal and try a different angle.
π‘ Tip: Combine Visualize with category filters first - charting a focused dataset tells a much clearer story than charting everything at once

π¬ Getting the Most Out of VAL
VAL is Valona's built-in AI research assistant, available from any page. Click it open in the bottom-right corner and type a question. Things you can ask VAL to do:
Summarize your search results into an executive summary
Ask a direct question and get a sourced answer
Run a SWOT or PESTEL analysis on a topic
Evaluate the impact of a competitor move or industry development
Assess what a trend means for your business
You have control over what VAL draws from. Select specific results to include, or remove sources before asking VAL to regenerate. VAL also suggests follow-up questions to help you explore a topic further. All responses include links to the underlying sources and are saved in your personal conversation history.
A few things to keep in mind:
Ask full, specific questions. "What is Earnix's position in insurance software?" works much better than "What about Earnix?"
Start a new conversation when you switch topics.
Click Show sources to verify where VAL's answer comes from.
Use Suggested questions to dig deeper into a topic.
