Downloading an exam to be taken later
Downloading an exam is only necessary if you plan to run the exam at a remote location without an internet connection.
Please note: these initial steps must take place in a location with an internet connection first, prior to going to the location without internet access.
There is no provision for exams to be completed from a USB stick on the updated SecureClient.
It is important to note that a PIN must be set for the exam before you follow the next steps to download it.
Open the ‘SecureClient’ software and type in the Keycode. Do not click OK.
Click ‘Download test to take later’ as outlined below.
When this is done you should see a 'Download Complete' message like the image below to show that it has downloaded successfully and the exam is ready to be sat offline.
When you open SecureClient at a location without an internet connection you will see the usual 'Enter Keycode' screen.
Type in the keycode and you will then proceed to a ‘Confirm Details’ screen. You will then be presented with an ‘Agree to Terms’ screen.
The learner should ensure that their information is correct on the ‘Confirm Details’ screen.
Please note if a learner sits an exam under someone else's name, even if that other person is attempting the same exam, no scores or grades can be transferred between learners.
Once the above has been confirmed and accepted you will be prompted for a 'Pin'. Please ensure you have a copy of the 'Invigilation Paperwork' before you take any machines to an external location that has no internet connection.
Once the 'Pin' has been typed in the exam will be on the 'Introduction Page'. From this page the learner will be able to start the exam. The countdown will start when the first question loads.
Uploading the learner responses
The learner should click 'Finish' when they have attempted all of the questions. The learner won’t receive a result until the exam has been uploaded to 'Surpass'.
To upload the exam, the machine that the learner used should re-establish an internet connection. When the connection has been established, open SecureClient again. After a few seconds the exam will upload.
Please be aware that you are required to upload exams on the same or following working day as stated in our EAF1 document.
To check if the exam has successfully uploaded, log into 'Surpass' and check the 'Invigilation Screen'. If you see the following tick symbol associated with the learner’s exam, then the exam has uploaded successfully.
