If your payment has failed but your subscription keeps attempting to charge you (up to 5 times per day), here's what's happening and how to fix it.
Why this is happening
When a payment fails, your subscription enters a retry cycle. The system will attempt to charge your payment method up to 5 times until one of these happens:
The payment goes through successfully
Your subscription automatically pauses (after multiple failed attempts)
You manually cancel and reactivate your subscription
Simply pushing back your subscription delivery date won't stop the retry attempts — changes to your next order date only affect future orders, not the current payment issue.
How to fix it: Cancel and reactivate
The fastest way to stop the retry attempts and reset your subscription is to cancel and reactivate:
Log into your Huel account
Go to Subscriptions
Click Cancel on the affected subscription
Once cancelled, go back to Subscriptions and click Reactivate
Choose your desired delivery date
Update your payment details with correct information
Your subscription will process on the new date you've chosen
Prevent this from happening again
Update your payment details now:
Log into your account and go to Payment Methods
Make sure your card details are current and correct
Check that your card hasn't expired
Watch for payment reminder emails:
Huel sends a heads-up email 7 days before your order is due to process
Use this as a reminder to check that your payment details are up to date
If you see a failed payment notification, update your details immediately to avoid the retry cycle
