It is relevant for you if you use lot attributes and want to know what the recipient of a document can actually see.
How you can use lot attributes
Lot attributes are properties that can vary from lot to lot, even when the SKU number is the same. You enable them on the SKU and fill them in on the individual lot. Read more about the setup in the article Lot Attributes.
Internal information. Storage Bin tells your warehouse staff where the lot is. Internal comment can be used for a message meant only for your own colleagues. Analysis values such as Effective pH or Aflatoxin B1 document the properties of the lot in your own quality management.
Information you pass on. Origin, Catch Method, FAO Catch Zone and Farmer/Grower are details your customers often need. When they are filled in on the lot, they appear automatically on the documents you send out, and you avoid typing them in manually.
That distinction tells you where to look: some attributes are built to be shared externally, others are never printed on a document.
Eight attributes appear on almost every document
These eight attributes appear whether the document belongs to a sale, a purchase or a warehouse order:
Catch Method
FAO Catch Zone
Farmer/Grower
Breeder
Origin
Packaging
Specification
Size
The picking list is the exception. It only includes Packaging, Specification and Size of the eight, because it is built for the warehouse and not for the recipient.
How the rest varies from document to document
The table shows what appears in addition to the eight attributes in the section above.
Document | Also appears |
Order confirmation (sales order) | Cutting, Quality, Trim |
Order confirmation (purchase order) | Age of animal, Carton, Customs Status, Cutting, EWC code, FAO Species Code, Foil, Label, Package Leaflet, Pistol, Pouch, Presentation, Preservation, Product destination, Quality, Storage Bin, Supplier SKU, Trim |
Order document (warehouse order) | Cutting, Quality, Trim |
Order delivery note | Supplier SKU |
Release note (order) | Supplier SKU |
Proforma invoice | Quality, Supplier SKU |
Invoice | Quality |
Credit note | Quality |
Delivery note | Supplier SKU |
Release note (delivery) | None |
Transport booking | None |
Picking list | Quality, Storage Bin |
The order confirmation on a purchase order is the document that includes the most attributes.
Attribute names are not always printed on the document the way they appear in tracezilla. EU Tariff Code is printed as HS Code, for example. If you are looking for a specific detail, look for the value rather than the name.
EU Tariff Code only appears on cross-border trade
EU Tariff Code behaves differently from the other attributes. If you trade with a domestic customer or supplier, the code does not appear on the document, even when the field is filled in on the lot.
When you trade across borders, the code appears.
Lot attributes on screen in tracezilla
On the lot itself you can see every attribute you have enabled. But in the overviews and dialogues where you work with lots day to day, only a fixed selection of 13 is shown:
Carton, Catch Method, Customs Status, Farmer/Grower, Foil, Origin, Package Leaflet, Packaging, Quality, Size, Specification, Storage Bin, Breeder
The selection is the same in these places:
on the lot lines of a sales order
on the lot lines of a purchase order
in the Select lots dialogue
Lot attributes that do not appear on documents
These attributes are not printed on documents. They are for use inside tracezilla — for stock management, quality documentation and internal communication.
