Futures Prime Rules

Everything that applies to your Futures Prime account, in one place — what to hit to pass, the limits you can’t breach, and what’s allowed.

These are the rules for your Futures Prime account. We group them into two types:

  • Hard rules — breaking one breaches the account: it fails and is disabled.

  • Soft rules — requirements or adjustments that don’t fail your account.

Your Profit Target, Max Drawdown and Daily Pause amounts depend on your account size — see the table in “Futures Prime — how it works”.

* How the 40% Consistency Rule recalculates your Profit Target depends on when your account was created — see “40% Consistency Rule” below.

What you must do to pass (objectives)

Profit Target (Objective)

Reach the Profit Target for your account size — 6% of the balance ($3,000 on $50K, $6,000 on $100K, $9,000 on $150K) — within the 30-day Challenge and without breaking any rules.

Minimum Trading Days (Soft — No Breach)

For the Challenge to register as passed you must place a trade on at least 3 unique trading days.

Holding a position overnight does not count as a new trading day.

40% Consistency Rule (Soft — Adjusts Target)

Applies to the Challenge only — never to a Futures Earning Account — and it never fails your account. Your highest trading day is capped at 40% of your Profit Target; going over simply raises the target.

How the new target is calculated depends on when your account was created:

  • Created on or after 14 July 2026 — the target is recalculated so your highest day equals 40% of it (Highest Day ÷ 0.40 = new target). Example: a $1,500 best day on a $3,000 target → $3,750.

  • Created before 14 July 2026 — the amount over the 40% cap is added to the target. Example: on a $3,000 target the cap is $1,200; a $1,500 best day is $300 over, so the target becomes $3,300.

Limits You Must Not Breach (Hard Rules)

Max Drawdown (Trailing On End-Of-Day Balance) (Hard Rule)

Your Max Drawdown (see the table) trails your end-of-day balance — based on closed P&L, not intraday peaks — upward, until it reaches your starting balance, then locks.

If your balance falls to the drawdown level, the account is breached.

Example:

  • $100,000 account with a $3,000 Max Drawdown → initial level $97,000.

  • End-of-day balance rises to $102,000 → level trails to $99,000.

  • End-of-day balance reaches $103,000 → level locks at $100,000 (your starting balance) and won’t trail higher.

Daily Pause (Daily Loss Limit) (Auto-Close For The Day)

The Daily Pause is your maximum daily loss (see the table). When your loss reaches it, the system closes all open positions and pauses trading until the next trading day.

The limit updates daily at 16:15 CT and is shown on your dashboard.

Applies during the Challenge phase only. It was removed from Futures Prime Earning accounts on 14 July 2026.

Important: the Daily Pause is a safety feature, not a guaranteed hard stop. In fast markets, slippage can push your loss past the Daily Pause — and past your Max Drawdown, which breaches the account.

Do not use the Daily Pause as a substitute for a stop-loss.

No Overnight Or Weekend Positions (Force-Closed)

Holding positions overnight is not allowed on Futures Prime.

Any position still open 5 minutes before the market close (14:55 CT) is force-closed by our Risk Team.

Maximum Contracts (Position Limit)

Your maximum position size depends on your account:

  • $50K → 5 standard / 50 micro

  • $100K → 10 / 100

  • $150K → 15 / 150

There is no minimum, and the lower your current balance, the fewer contracts you’re allowed to trade.

Inactivity (Hard Rule)

If 21 consecutive days pass without placing a single trade, the account is considered inactive and breached.

Holding a position overnight or leaving a pending order doesn’t count as activity, and the countdown starts as soon as the account is purchased.

What’s Allowed, With Conditions

Micro Scalping (Allowed)

Scalping is allowed in all Futures Challenges and Earning accounts.

News Trading (Allowed)

Allowed on Futures Prime in both the Challenge and Earning Phase.

Be mindful of the heightened volatility and large, unpredictable price swings around high-impact news.

Stop-Loss & Take-Profit (Allowed)

Not mandatory on every trade, but strongly recommended.

If the majority of your trades are placed without a stop-loss, the Risk Team may reach out and require you to use them.

Copy Trading (Allowed, With Limits)

You may copy trades, manually or automatically, across up to 5 of your own Challenges or 5 of your own Earning accounts.

You may only copy from your own accounts — copying from other traders or sources is prohibited, and copying between Futures Challenges and Futures Earning accounts is allowed.

Running the same strategy across more than 5 accounts can lead to upgrades being denied.

Prohibited Practices

Hedging (Prohibited)

A BUY and a SELL held at the same time is prohibited.

Hedging involves holding a BUY and a SELL position on the same instrument simultaneously, so the two positions offset each other and the net market exposure is removed. This includes opposing positions in a single account, a BUY on one account and a SELL on another, and offsetting positions opened in correlated instruments across accounts.

High-Frequency Trading (HFT) (Prohibited)

Not allowed on any account: executing multiple trades per second, dozens of trades within a minute, rapid-fire entries and exits, or any attempt to exploit speed, latency or feed delays.

Violations result in account termination.

Accounts & Other Rules

How Many Accounts

There is no limit on how many Futures accounts you can purchase.

In the Earning Phase you can hold a maximum of 5 active Earning accounts; if you pass a Challenge while already at the cap, the upgrade is queued until one of your Earning accounts closes.

Trading Device, IP & Network

An IP that changes every few days (e.g. while travelling) is fine.

An IP that changes several times within the same day can raise suspicion of account sharing, which is forbidden.

See our Trading Device, IP & Network Policy for the full rules on devices, IPs and shared access.
