User roles

An employee who reports directly to a specific manager. In Talos Perform, this user is typically reviewed and managed by their assigned Default manager.

Default manager

The person primarily responsible for overseeing their Direct report’s performance, objective setting and managing their reviews.

Default second manager

An optional secondary manager for a Direct report. They might be involved in their reviews and objective setting, but the Default Manager has primary responsibility for the process. They have visibility over the Direct report’s data.

Default sign-off

An optional sign-off manager for a Direct report. They might be responsible for formally approving and finalising a review for their Direct report. They have visibility over the Direct report’s data.

A collective term to describe Default manager, Default second manager and Default sign-off, as well as people above them in the org chart.

Feedback-givers

People who provide feedback on a user.

People/users

General terms for everyone on the Appraisd platform.

Review roles

Reviewee

The user being reviewed. This person is the subject of the performance review process.

Usually this is the Default manager. This person is responsible for completing the review for the reviewee.

Second manager

Usually this is the Default second manager. If assigned, this person contributes to the review process by providing additional comments.

Usually this is the Default sign-off. If assigned, this person is usually responsible for formally approving and finalising a review.

Combined user and review roles

Account administration roles

There are four distinct administration permissions in Talos Perform - Configurator, Administrator, Moderator, Form Designer - that can be assigned to users as needed.

Configurator

As a Configurator, you will have access to the Configuration area where you can adjust the settings for your account. Typically, this role is the most restricted role and only given to users who are responsible for the Talos Perform system. Normally a Configurator would also have all the other administration permission roles too.

A configurator can:

  • Access the Configuration area and all account settings.

  • View, add, change and remove the administration permissions given to other users.

Administrator

As an Administrator, you will have access to the Administration Centre. Typically, this role is given to a member of HR who is responsible for keeping the Talos Perform data up to date or review reporting. You can use the administration group feature to restrict Administrator access over specific groups of employees.

An administrator can:

  • Add, update and deactivate users.

  • Set up and edit reviews.

  • Run metrics reports.

Moderator

As a Moderator, you will have access to all the data on your account. Typically, this role is given to someone who needs to review and analyse confidential data such as responses in reviews, content of objectives and feedback received. You can use the administration group feature to restrict Moderator access over specific groups of employees.

A moderator can:

  • Search and go to anyone's profile.

  • See all personal data including review responses, feedback and objectives.

  • If enabled, 'view as' as someone to provide support or complete tasks on behalf of another person.

  • Run insight driven reports including review responses, feedback and objectives (if also an Administrator).

  • Edit objectives in bulk (if also an Administrator).

  • We advise giving anyone who is a Moderator, Administrator access too. So either a user would be an Administrator or an Administrator+Moderator.

Form Designer

As a Form Designer, you will have access to the Form Design area of the Administration Centre. Typically, this role is given to a subset of your Administrators who are responsible for managing the review forms used in your account.

A form designer can:

  • Access the Form Design area of the Administration Centre.

  • Add, edit and remove review forms for your account.
