To correctly claim your business expenses for tax purposes, you must record them in your income-surplus statement (EÜR). The EÜR is a simplified profit determination method that is especially relevant for small businesses and freelancers. Here, you record all income and expenses to determine your profit or loss.

It’s important to list all business expenses carefully and completely, as only then will the tax office recognize your costs and reduce your tax burden accordingly.

To make this easier, it’s advisable to use a digital accounting program. Such programs help you manage your receipts in an organized way, automatically assign them to the appropriate accounts, and efficiently prepare the EÜR. This saves time, reduces errors, and provides a better overview of your finances.

If you’re unsure how to properly report your business expenses, consulting a tax advisor can also be helpful.
