Under certain conditions, you can deduct care expenses and support payments as extraordinary expenses on your taxes.
Care Expenses: Two Options
Provide proof of need for care
If there is recognized need for care (e.g., a care level has been assigned), you can deduct the actual care expenses.
Use the flat-rate care allowance
Alternatively, you can claim a fixed allowance without providing itemized proof β provided you care for the person at home and without pay.
Deducting Support Payments
Support payments to dependent relatives (e.g., parents or children) can also be deducted under certain conditions β for example, if there is no entitlement to child benefits or child tax allowance.
