Leica ConX Integration
Updated over 6 months ago

Here's how to add the Leica ConX integration via SkyMap Connect:

In SkyMap Portal, through the Connect module, you can add integration with a project in Leica ConX. This allows you to transfer files between platforms and generate machine control files directly from the File Manager in SkyMap Portal to machines connected to the project.

To add the Leica ConX integration to a project, follow these steps:

  1. Log in as a Company Admin in SkyMap Portal.

  2. Open the project you wish to integrate with Leica ConX.

  3. Go to the Connect module.

  4. Click on Add Integration.

  5. In the dialog box, you'll see the integrations available to connect via SkyMap Connect. Add the Leica ConX integration.

  6. The first time an integration is added to a project in the company, you'll be asked to order SkyMap Connect. Activating SkyMap Connect in the project requires an additional license in the company. If you already have an active license, you can proceed. If you don't have an active license, ordering adds the service and accepts the terms. Contact SkyMap support for questions regarding this.

  7. Accept the terms and click on Order.

  8. The Leica ConX integration is now added and displayed on the left in the list of integrations in the project. Now, you need to connect the project with the corresponding project in Leica ConX. Do this by clicking on 'Enable Integration.'

  9. Authorize SkyMap to use your account by logging in with your Leica ConX username and password.

  10. Select the project to be linked and click on Connect.

  11. Upon successful connection, you'll return to SkyMap Portal with information that the projects are linked. Here, you'll see the activation date of the integration and a link to the linked project in Leica ConX.

  12. After activating the integration, you need to link a root folder to Connect in the SkyMap project's File Manager. The linked root folder is used as the main folder for synchronizing files and folders between platforms. If you already have a linked root folder for Connect, you don't need to do this, as the same root folder is used.

  13. A tip is to create one or more subfolders in the root folder used for Connect. Upload the machine control files there. All files uploaded to these folders will automatically receive the unit types you tagged the folders with in ConX. This is because SkyMap cannot specify a specific unit type. To synchronize files from SkyMap to Leica ConX, upload files in the linked root folder to Connect. This way, the files are synchronized and accessible in connected machines in ConX.

  14. For machine operators using ConX, files can now be sent directly from SkyMap's File Manager to production.

  15. Handling in ConX:

    • Files or folders created in ConX are synchronized down to the linked root folder for Connect.

    • All files uploaded from SkyMap are given the file type 'Reference Model' in ConX.

    • All files uploaded from SkyMap receive all unit types in ConX. A tip here is to set the unit type in ConX at the root or folders so that the files inherit the unit type when uploaded to ConX.

    • If a new file version is uploaded from SkyMap, the file in ConX is replaced.

    • Renaming a folder or file from SkyMap updates the corresponding one in ConX.

    • Renaming a folder in ConX updates the corresponding one in SkyMap.

    • Renaming or deleting a file in ConX updates the corresponding one in SkyMap.

    • Deleting a file or folder in ConX deletes the corresponding one in SkyMap
