This checklist is a combination of the Swedish Transport Agency's document "Drones - training material A2 (Rev 2020-DEC-04)" and SkyMaps' own experiences. The purpose is to simplify for those of you who have a drone license and use the drone commercially to collect measurement data. The checklist is based on the open category, drone A2 (<4 kg), and class C2 with a multirotor, which is the most common among our customers. Note that different conditions apply to other categories, drones, and drone classes. Also, note that we have assumed that flights are not conducted in darkness or over water. If they are, regulations, insurances, and the drone's lighting must be checked.
Having drone insurance is important, and we offer favorable insurance in collaboration with Adekvat Försäkring. To take advantage of the offer, don't forget to check SkyMap in your application.
Before you start flying:
Obtain a drone license (we recommend A2) and register the company (or a natural person who is at least 18 years old) as a drone operator with the Swedish Transport Agency at https://dronarsidan.transportstyrelsen.se/
Check that the weight of the drone including payload (camera, gimbal, etc.) corresponds to the category and C-class (<4 kg) and that the drone is CE-marked.
Ensure that the drone can be remotely identified (so that authorities can identify the drone in the air and obtain information about, among other things, its marking, registration, and operator).
Ensure that the remote pilot holds a valid drone license (valid for 5 years from the date of issue).
Insure the remote pilot and the drone according to applicable rules and recommendations.
Download the Map Pilot for DJI app (paid app).
Read through the drone's manual, for example, on how to shut off the motors in the air in an emergency situation (a so-called planned crash), or how the drone operates in case of engine failure or ice formation on the propellers, to be prepared if needed.
Ensure that the drone system is equipped with a so-called geo-awareness (this function allows the remote pilot to receive information about, for example, airspace boundaries in relation to the drone's position and altitude).
Ensure that all participating individuals in the area where the operation takes place have been informed about the risks and have expressly agreed to participate.
